Brief History of the Al-Ghrawi
Business:
The Al-Ghrawi business began manufacturing a number of dried
fruit, malban and nougat products in 1891. At the time, production was
done solely by hand. The initial products enjoyed a surprising degree of
popularity, and have since become widely associated with regional
celebrations and traditions. Furthermore, the company managed to
successfully introduce their products to the Western World, and in 1930,
the manufacturers added chocolate and marzipan to their collection of
sweets. The introduction of machinery to the manufacturing process
allowed the company to mass produce its products, further enabling the
Al-Ghrawi company to effectively compete with established sweet
companies. By the time the third generation of manufacturers stepped in,
the Al-Ghrawi family had not only increased their consumer base, but had
also managed to create over 500 different sweets, each with a
distinctive taste; this served to establish the company as a
leader in the industry.
Brief History of Bassam Ghrawi Est.:
In 1993, Bassam Ghrawi and his father moved to a small 100-m2
factory located in Beirut. In less than nine months, due to the success
of the business, the establishment was able to move a 700-m2 factory,
and moved finally in 2001 to a 1500 m2 factory in Kfarchima, while the
Beirut branch remained a support outlet. With the increase in business,
the company managed to introduce many new sweets and confectionary
products. A new generation of management brought with it many modern
business practices in food technology, accounting, finance and IT
management. These practices, in conjunction with the company's sustained
growth, encouraged the computerization of almost all business aspects.
The company strives for innovation and has its sights set on global
expansion, in both wholesale and retail. |
